Join us on Rosedale Valley Rd. as we prepare ourselves to march in the Pride Parade.

Pride Toronto's theme this year is "Unified," so the UT Pride Committee has decided to follow that theme by dressing as a sports team, or a Homecoming King or Queen. Fuck with gender. Come adorned in your athletic best (a jersey will be provided) and march - not just for fun, but for change. Joining us again is Samba Elegua, a local ensemble that will surely get you in the mood to march.

*1:00pm SHARP! Access to Rosedale Valley Rd. will be restricted after 1:00pm. You cannot join the parade after it has started.

We have DJ Nik Red who is gonna provide some awesome music, and the always fabulous and always hilarious Donnarama and Miss Conception going to perform.

Cover is 5 dollars before 11 and 8 after. Doors open at 9.

A wristband policy is in effect, so please bring ID if you wish to drink.

Goodhandy's Nightclub is located on the South West corner of Church and Richmond above the Go Spring Rolls. There will be a glass door and a sign above it that says Goodhandy's.
If you are going by subway, the closest station is Queen Station, when you get off proceed along Queen Street until Church St. Then head south till just past Richmond St.

LGBTOUT Student Awards application deadline

*LGBTOUT STUDENT AWARDS APPLICATION DEADLINE: 15 MARCH 2008*

If you are an undergraduate student in a first-entry division (Arts and Science, Engineering, Music, etc.) at any U of T campus, and you have made a volunteer contribution to creating change on campus or in the community through LGBTQ service and/or activism, you are invited to apply for an LGBTOUT Student Award.

One of these awards requires a demonstration of financial need, and is limited to Canadian citizens living in Ontario. If you do not satisfy these particular requirements you should still apply for the award that does not depend on financial need.

A confidential letter of reference must accompany the application, in addition to a one-page resume or description of community contribution.

This event is to help educate people on issues facing Trans-People in society, how Cis-Gender (non trans) people are privileged in society. And how as allies we can help create a more inclusive enviroment for gender diversity. This event also coincides with The Trans Day of Rememberance, and after it we will be heading over to the 519 for the Vigil which starts at 7.

LGBT Drop In Center Open House

Come Drop by in at the LGBT Drop In Center. The drop in center will be working on getting regular hours in the coming weeks. But this will be the first day that it officially opens.
For those unfamiliar with the concept, it is a place where LGBTQ people and people who arent sure where they fit in, to come, hang out and relax. As well if you have questions or need to talk to someone the people there can help out or help you find an appropriate service or office that can help.
The drop in center is a very popular hang out place on campus, and is located under the clock tower at University College on St George, and is part of Sir Daniel Wilson Hall. So come out and drop in, meet some new people and some fun. We will be open from 11 to 4.

Volunteers Needed for UTSU Clubs Fair and BBQ BBQ!

Hi All,

I am writing in the hopes that all of you will give just a few moments of your time to two important events coming up! Please e-mail me, Jessica Parker, as soon as possible if you are able to volunteer and when you'll be able to help out. Contact me at poledu@lgbtout.com. Details are below!

1. UTSU Clubs Fair - Friday, September 7, 10am-2:30pm throughout Hart House Circle and King's College Circle. We need to check in at 9 am for set up and must be cleaned up by 3 pm. I am looking for at least two people from 9 am to 3 pm. The shifts are as follows:

9 am - 10 am
10 am - 11 am
11 am - 12 pm
12 pm - 1 pm
1 pm - 2 pm
2 pm - 3 pm

This will be a booth representing all queer groups and organizations on campus, so you don't need to be affiliated with a specific group to help out. If you can, please bring information about your group to have available to students. If you can't answer all questions about everything, never fear! Just direct the student to the appropriate contact, website, etc., if you can.

2. The BBQ BBQ (Bisexual Bicurious Questioning Barbecue) - Friday, September 28th from 11 am - 2 pm on the UTSU (SAC) lawn. The shifts are as follows:

9 am - at least one person to help me shop
10 am - 11 am - at least three people to help with set up and preparations
11 am - 2 pm - at least two people to cook, and at least one person to help keep things running smoothly
2 pm - at least three people to help with clean up and returning supplies, etc.

I desperately need people able to barbecue, so please let me know as soon as possible if you are able to help with that!

As the UTSU Clubs Fair is on the 7th of September, I am hoping to hear from everyone by August 31st at the latest so that I can send out final details and instructions over the long weekend. March with U of T in the Pride Parade!

The Pride Parade is tomorrow afternoon and we want all of you to march with us.

Meet at 1:00pm on Rosedale Valley Road. We are vehicle number 98, so
you may have to walk for some time until you find us. We'll be
sporting our baby blue marching band uniforms and be accompanied by
Samba Elegua, the same samba band we had last year. By the way,
they're amazing.

The easiest way to get to our location is to walk East on Bloor St
until you hit Park Road. Turn left and walk down Park Road until you
see Rosedale Valley Road. Turn right and follow the road until you see
our truck.

Queer Orientation planning meeting

Come out to the first planning meeting for Queer Orientation Week!

I know September seems far away, but this is an excellent opportunity
to get together early in order to come up with some ideas for Queer
Orientation Week. Everyone's welcome, so bring your ideas and let's
make next year's Queer Orientation the best ever!

Queer Orientation takes place the week after your colleges' Welcome
Week, during the first week of classes. Queer and trans groups on
campus run a series of social events designed for students new to
queer and trans communities, and gives them a chance to meet new
friends, have fun, and get to know the resources and services
available. In the past, groups have hosted a meet and greet, queer
tours of campus, pub outings, and a karaoke night.
