Exploring a queer-positive multi-faith space at U of T, 12 noon-2:00pm, April 10

Gareth Henry, Jamaican queer rights activist and founder of a Metropolitan Community Church in Jamaica will speak at a Qu(e)erying Religion lunch at noon on Thursday, April 10 in the multi-purpose room of the Multi-Faith Centre at 569 Spadina Ave. at U of T. Henry claimed refugee status in Canada in January 2008, and says of his work with the MCC in Jamaica, “we have created for ourselves a safe place for the community to worship.” (Xtra! Feb. 28, 2008)

After Henry’s presentation and discussion, there will be a brief meeting to consider next steps in organizing a new U of T multi-faith student group on queerness and religion. Everyone welcome. Free. For more info: ecumenical.chaplain@utoronto.ca

Let's get the Que(e)rying Religion group going again! I have booked the Bickersteth Room in Hart House from 4:30-6:30 pm on Tuesday, September 19, and the four following Tuesdays at the same time.

Let's meet for some introductions and gather ideas as to where we would like to go this semester next Tuesday. I will order some munchies so that we don't get grumpy due to low blood-sugar levels.

If you are interested in talking, learning, exploring intersections of gender identies, sexual orientations, (lgbtqaI2 etc) with spirituality, faith perspectives, religion please join us.

RSVP so I have an idea as to how much food and beverages to have on hand.

Thanks!

Ralph Carl Wushke, Th. M.
Ecumenical Chaplain, U. of T.
